Eurofins utfører analyser av bioakkumulering.

Bioakkumulering er når miljøgifter blir tatt opp av mikroorganismer via alle tilgjengelige veier.

Tests for bioaccumulation potential: OECD 117: Partition Coefficient P_ow (n-octanol/water), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Method. The test substance is injected into a reverse-phase column, and moves along it by partitioning between the mobile solvent phase and the hydrocarbon stationary phase. Test substances are retained in proportion to their hydrocarbon-water partition coefficient, with water-soluble chemicals eluted first and oil-soluble chemicals last.  P_ow-values in the log range 0 - 6 can be estimated.  Surface-active test substances cannot be tested according to the OECD 117. A calculation of the Log Pow can be carried out based on the chemical structure.
