Comparative laboratory testing also know as proficiency testing trials (PT) is an important part of quality assurance of a laboratory analysis. This is an external quality control which demonstrates the above customers, accreditation bodies and other government laboratory overall ability to analyze and report the correct answer to an agreed analysis parameters. Eurofins offers accredited PTs to water and food microbiology. We focus on rapid feedback to participants with an interim report so that you can check that the reported results were entered correctly and to get a sense of laboratory performance, and approximately 1 month later a full report can be downloaded from our website.
Food Microbiology Testing consists 2 types of contaminated food:
Trials without pathogens: Aerobic mesophilic colony count, Enterobacteriaceae, coliform bacteria, thermotolerant coliform bacteria, E. coli, mould, yeast, B. cereus, lactic acid bacteria and contaminating microorganisms (according to IDF 153).
Trials with pathogenic bacteria: Enterococcus, S. aureus, C. perfringens, Salmonella, L. monocytogenes (quantitative + qualitative), E. coli 0157, Vibrio (weeks 17-18), Campylobacter (weeks 44-45).
Drinking Water Microbiology Testing covers the EU Water Framework and includes: Heterotrophic colony count 22º + 36ºC, Coliform bacteria, Thermotolerant coliform bacteria, E. coli, Sulphite reducing clostridia / C. perfringens, Intestinal enterococci, Pseudomonas, yeast and mould.
