How the PT trials are arranged

  • PT trials are arranged 4 times a year
  • Participants receive their samples in good time before the trial starts. The participants analyze their samples in the same 2-weeks period.
  • Participants submit their results within a final date, and receive a preliminary report approximately 2 weeks after the final date.
  • A final report is made available in approximately 5-6 weeks.
  • Due to holidays in the summer and around Christmas, the reports may be delayed.

The PT food program is divided in 3 different groups; non-pathogenic samples, pathogenic samples and samples for Thermotolerant Campylobacter and Pathogenic Vibrio spp.

Vibrio and Campylobacter

The non-pathogenic samples are high dairy content dry foods consisting of 3 samples.

The samples contain a combination of bacteria and fungi that are suitable for quantitative determination.

The pathogenic samples are different dry foods like muesli, soup of vegetables, dessert mixes etc. 3 samples are provided.

The samples contain a combination of bacteria suitable for quantitative or qualitative determination.

Samples for Pathogenic Vibrio spp. and Thermotolerant Campylobacter are provided twice a year (April/May and October/November).

The trials are comprised of 3 samples of freeze dried ampoules.

  • Aerobic colony count
  • Enterobacteriaceae
  • Coliforms
  • Thermotolerant coliforms
  • Escherichia coli
  • Mould
  • Yeast
  • Bacillus cereus
  • Lactic acid bacteria
  • Contaminating microorganisms
  • Enterococcus
  • Coagulase positive Staphylococcus
  • Clostridium perfringens/ Sulphite-reducing bacteria
  • Salmonella spp
  • Listeria monocytogenes (quantitative + qualitative)
  • Escherichia coli O157

Special samples for Vibrio and Campylobacter can also be offered
