Environmental DNA; eDNA (miljøDNA) is experiencing increasing interest because of easy noninvasive sampling procedures and the techniques’ ability to detect rare, non-indigenous or low-abundant species in environmental matrices as water, sediments and soil. Our services within this field are:

Targeted analysis – defined species using qPCR technology

Non–targeted Screening – identifying species using Metabarcoding strategy

We can offer a broad range of targeted analysis using qPCR at our laboratory facilities in Denmark. You will find lists of species of both protected and invasive species among others on this web-page. The number of species is constantly growing – please contact us if you don´t find the ones relevant for you.

Creating customer satisfaction; Ease of use and trustable Turn-Around Times are of high importance in addition to offer our high quality analysis:

• The Turn Around Times for the Targeted tests presented is 3 weeks (minimum 5 samples per batch)
• Sampling kits is offered by us; easy to order as the classic water and soil container
• Self-preserved kits require a minimum of precautions for planning and executing transportation, using the same service as for classic environmental samples
• Customer, sales contactpoints, sample reception and reporting is  the same as with classic samples of water and soil
• Advising of more advanced sampling equipment as pumps

Environmental DNA (eDNA) is the genetic material shed by all organisms into the water column. After filtering of the water, our laboratory can extract the trapped eDNA. Downstream analysis using a species-specific quantitative PCR (qPCR) assay can then be used to detect rare endangered indigenous species or monitor aquatic invasive species.
